Invite your friends and family to join us for a fun run that benefits the women of American! It’s a lovely and family-friendly race course that starts and finishes at Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup, WA.

The proceeds from the race are being raised to support Go Red For Women, an organization that raises awareness about cardiovascular disease, which is the number one cause of death for women in the United States.

National Walking Day: April 1, 2015

Join us for National Walking Day!

Wednesday, April 1, 2015 (Noon – 1 p.m.)

Start:  Lion’s Sculptures at Wright Park on 6th Ave.

Walk with:  Melissa McGinnis, Metro Parks, Bill Baarsma, Former Tacoma Mayor & Derek Young, Exit 133.

Tacoma, Wash. – Join a Wright Park walking event in celebration of National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at noon, with Downtown On the Go and the American Heart Association.  This event will kick off the 2015 season of walking!

Participants will walk 1.5 miles through Wright Park and the Stadium District with Melissa McGinnis, from Metro Parks, Bill Baarsma, former Tacoma Mayor, and Derek Young, from Exit 133, and will learn about the history of Wright Park and the Stadium District.

The walk will begin at the south side of Wright Park by the lion sculptures at noon. Walkers will be able to visit booths from 11:30 a.m. until noon to learn more about healthy lifestyles, healthy commutes, and other walking events, and the first 250 walk participants will receive a swag bag. Walk is free and there is no pre-registration necessary.

Walk Tacoma 2015 is an eight-event walking series held on first and third Wednesdays, from April through August. The fun, themed walks, now in their sixth year, encourage downtown employees and residents to exercise and enjoy the outdoors by discovering the different walking routes and parks in downtown Tacoma. The walks are scheduled at the lunch hour and just after work to encourage downtown employees to walk during their workday, whether it is to and from work or at a lunch break.
